  • Mr Salik Miah (aged 43 years)

    Rank: 2nd Degree Black Belt
    Association: AIMAA (UK) Taekwondo

I started martial art training in Judo when I was 14 and after many years of weight training I started training in Taekwondo at Huddersfield in 1995 with Mr Andy Murray (GTI). In 1997 I began training with Mr A. Chambers (1st degree previously). After a few months Mr Chambers joined AIMAA, fronted by Hee Il Cho. I tested for most of my colour belts with AIMAA, then in 2000 I tested for my Black Belt with Mr Peter Burns and Mr John Darcy, Head of AIMAA Ireland and European Director of AIMAA. In 2002 I tested for my 2nd Degree in front of a panel of 9 Regional Instructors and Grandmaster Cho. In 2005 I hope to test for my 3rd degree with Grandmaster Cho.

My current goals are to develop my schools and students and also teach and learn from them to further my own knowledge and training techniques. I am fortunate to have met and trained with TKD instructors and have learnt a great deal from them. I feel very fortunate to be associated with AIMAA and Grandmaster Hee Il Cho.

    Achievements:

    • 1998 – 1st Sparring and Destruction
    • 1999 – AIMAA North West 1st Place
    • 1999 – Selected to join AIMAA England Squad
    • 2001 – AIMAA British Championships 3rd place Grappling
